There are so many different cable to link one electrical item to another you’d be forgiven for being confused. To help, this article will discuss DVI cables and which ones are for what type of signal.
Digital Video Interface (DVI) was created by DDWG (Data Display Working Group) because our technology was retreating away from the use of analog signals to the more advance digital. At first analog siginals were used to send data from one source to another, but this had it’s problems, such as distortion of images due to electrical noise and a degrading signal. As usual something better came along and this was a digital signal, much like analog tv was superseded by digital. The old cables which used to carry this analog signal weren’t able to transfer the digital signal so DVI technology was developed and DVI cables were introduced. These DVI cables can carry both digital and analog sigals.
