There are many advantages to connecting a computer to an LCD TV. Computer monitors have a maximum viewing area of 22". An lcd hdtv can have a viewable screen as large as 60" or more. Also all of the media (audio and video) that is available on a computer hard drive, can be played on the DVD drive, or on the Internet can be accessed and transferred to the LCD TV. Media options are greatly increased by connecting a computer to an LCD TV. Some of these options are:
Access to the DVD drive on the computer to watch movies
Listen to Internet Radio
Play music files on the computer hard drive or on the Internet
Play multi player games from the DVD drive or on the Internet
Watch Free Internet TV
Watch videos at youtube.com
Check your email, go to your favorite web sites and surf the Internet on a large screen
To connect a computer to an LCD TV, the following items are recommended:
A computer (notebook or desktop) with Windows XP or Vista operating system.
The computer must have VGA output and a sound card with output.
An LCD TV with PC input capability
A male to male vga cable to connect the computer video to the LCD TV
A Stereo mini jack cable to connect the computer audio to the LCD TV
A fast broadband or cable connection for viewing video and listening to music on the Internet
Connect the VGA cable from the computer to the VGA input port on the LCD TV. Now connect the stereo mini jack from the computer sound card to the audio input on the LCD TV. Turn on the computer and click on the start button. Go to Control Panel>Click on Display>Click on the Settings Tab>Click on the Advanced button>. At the top of this window there is a tab that will allow you to choose the LCD TV as the display device. The LCD TV will automatically show up in the list with Windows XP or Vista. This area also has a tab where the display size is specified. Refer to the LCD TV Operating Manual (this is included with the purchase of an LCD TV) to find the best possible screen resolution that is supported by the television. Turn on the LCD TV and use the remote to switch to the Aux channel to display the computer screen on the LCD TV.
